The day after Tammy Baldwin’s election to the US Senate from Wisconsin, the other Senator from the state, Ron Johnson, said that he hoped he could work with her after he explained the “facts” of the budget to her.

His quote:

Hopefully I can sit down and lay out for her my best understanding of the federal budget because they’re simply the facts. Hopefully she’ll agree with what the facts are and work toward common sense solutions.

The video above shows Senator Ron Johnson trying to explain what a budget is on Fox News Sunday, April 8, 2012. Hopefully his “best understanding” has evolved past “it’s got all kinds of numbers in it.”

Tammy Baldwin’s response to Ron Johnson:

I was a double major in college in mathematics and political science, and I served for six years on the House Budget Committee… I am very confident that when proposals come before the U.S. Senate, I will be able to evalute them…

August 1, 2011 - Paul Ryan described to Sean Hannity just how great the debt limit compromise bill was for conservatives because of the sequestration provision.

He has been fighting for sequestration for years…

Be careful what you wish for.

Nov. 17, 2005 - Paul Ryan argues that reducing the lender’s share of student loans is not a cut to the loan recipients. This is the exact argument that the Obama administration is making, and that he now finds invalid.

For comparison, watch Joe Biden explain it in this clip.

At the end of the clip, Paul Ryan says that he is a beneficiary of student loans.

Paul Ryan: During this last century, our govt deviated greatly from the principles that built this country”
I guess this screen grab from ryanforcongress.com is a list of the “deviations.”
Does he really think that we shouldn’t have won two World Wars or the Cold War? What about surviving the Great Depression, was that a deviation too? Maybe this paragraph is just poorly written…

Republicans have been complaining about the cuts to the defense budget that are coming as a result of a bill that they voted for. The bill called for the “super-committee” to come to an agreement on cutting the budget, and set in place automatic cuts (sequester) that would occur if no agreement was worked out. Now that the automatic cuts are looming, the GOP has decided that it’s not a good idea after all. It turns out that setting spending caps with a sequester to back it up is an idea that GOP budget guru, Paul Ryan, has been trying to do since he was first elected to Congress.
